History

An airplane and a ship are flying in the air.

In 1942, during World War II, Brazil broke its diplomatic relations with Germany, Japan and Italy, after suffering retaliations for joining the commitments of the Atlantic Charter. Ships were bombed and the country’s economy - focused mainly on commodities export - was shaken.

People went to the streets and the government declared war against Germany. With the maritime embargo that followed, it came the necessity to storage agricultural products, such as coffee and cotton.

Through this business opportunity, Armazéns Gerais Columbia S/A emerged in São Paulo, being IBC (Brazilian Institute of Coffee) one of its first customers. Soon other companies began to use the structure to storage their products.

Therefore, we can state that the history of Columbia Group is contemporary to the emergence of International Trade in Brazil. The company has always contributed to the development of logistic solutions and the relationship among suppliers, goods and consumers.

Over time, through a natural process, we started to offer flexible solutions and paths that better meet our customers’ needs. With operations executed in a safer, optimal and feasible way.
